Pretty Things from This Week!

Sooo it's been a super busy week and I have had no chance to write down all the blog post's that have been whirling around in my head, but I have been noting down all the lovely outfits I have been seeing floating around this week hence this post!
I am not including anything to do with NYFW in this post as that will need at least a 100 blog post's of its own, I'm very excited, and have spent pretty much all day by my laptop on twitter, on the great nowfashion.com - it's compulsive viewing, and pinning everything I love over on Pinterest (have a little gander at it here if the mood takes you) So anyway, over the coming days there will be numerous NYFW blog updates, but for now back to the task in hand.....

Gary Oldman & Alex Edenborough (Picture hellomagazine.com)

For me these pair stole the show at the Oscars Luncheon this week, Mr Oldman couldn't look any more dapper if he tried (how is this only his first Oscar nomination?!) and how elegant is Alex Edenborough?!
The pussy bow detailing and the sheer sleeves are just so pretty and I love the matching shoes and clutch.

This is how a model works a black dress on the red carpet - nothing more needs to be said....

Diane Kruger in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture (Picture dailymail.co.uk)

....and this is how a fashionista actress rocks the red carpet to promote her film! Diane Kruger is never one to shy away from an interesting outfit choice and these are no exception. I will say I hadn't heard of the film, but outfits like this are the way to get press attention. The Giambattista Valli gown is just breathtaking, its everything a red carpet gown should be, attention grabbing, statement worthy, it has everything. Obviously one stunning outfit wasn't enough for this fashionista, she looks equally spectacular in her 10 Crosby Derek Lam green print tea dress teamed with a monochrome pencil skit, I love this look, it's quirky and it's different. That's what I love about Kruger she never shys away from breaking out of the mould, she wears what she wants, how she wants and sometimes I'm not 100% sure about it but she always she rocks the hell out of it.

Emmy Rossum looks cute as a button in this gorgeous heart print tea dress from the Anna Sui Spring 2012 collection, I love the pillar box red clutch and matching make up, A+ for effort.

So she may have just had a bit of a fender bender but if your going to have one you may as well look hot as hell while you do it. I love this relaxed summery look, I'm a big fan of this terracotta colour and I love the wedges, she just looks effortless and chilled, surprising really!! This whole outfit makes me want Summer to get here a whole lot faster!

As I have said before I like a gal who takes a risk and is willing to try something a bit different. I loved Jayma Mays SAG outfit and I think I love this even more, I love the clashing of the red and blue, the Alice+Olivia jacket is divine, the oversized silver clutch is the perfect complimentary accessory to team with these bright colours. Everything about this outfit works for me, right down to the scraped back model  style hair and the bright pop of lipstick

Bar Refaeli was working a floor length black dress to perfection this week & Kate Winslet is showing us all how to rock a LBD just as well here! I'm a massive Winslet fan (I'll never let go Jack!) but was disappointed in her Golden Globes dress and she was a no show at the SAG awards but in this outfit she is back to her normal elegant best. Loving the box clutch.

This is how to to work a casual look, simple, elegant and stylish, the jacket is a great colour with her English rose complexion and is a great shape, she looks really at ease and like she is enjoying every moment of Downton Abbey's attempts at world domination!

Last but not least, Michelle Williams at the Oscars Luncheon in Victoria Beckham, I don't think anyone
could have worn this outfit any better. Mrs Beckham herself is meant to have said that Williams sums up the essence of the new line". It suits her cute elfin look perfectly, on other people this dress could have looked childish but on Williams it works, I'm just not 100% sure about the shoes?! I could be persuaded though!

Keep your eyes peeled for plenty of NYFW fun coming soon!

Pretty Things from This Week!

These are a little round up of my favourite looks from this week!
I am not counting anything from the SAG awards in this, I actually think there have been nicer outfits out and about this week than there were at the SAG's!
So here we go....

Blake Lively - I'm not normally a massive fan of a lot of her style choices, I know again probably in a minority, & in Gossip Girl terms I think Leighton Meester has a much more interesting, edgy look that I generally prefer to Lively's fluffy, girly, beach babe look. But this outfit I love, It is very girly but I really like that about it, especially as she was at a Godiva Valentines event - what could be more girly!
I have read many different articles about what she was actually wearing, was it a dress, was it a top and skirt, or was is it a white dress with a blue skirt over the top, to be honest I don't really care what it was, I just like how it looked, and I love the flowery lace design that featured heavily in Valentino's Spring Summer 2012 range.

I love a bit of Cate Blanchett, I have missed her on the red carpet at the awards season! I love that she always goes a bit out there and clearly doesn't care what anyone thinks. She looks fab in this.

Sometimes Katehrine Heigl wears some interesting outfits, some of them I'm not always a fan of, but this is stunning and very elegant. I'm pretty sure Vanessa Hudgens was wearing a very similar dress to the Journey 2 premiere but I much preferred this colour version.

Keira Knightly in Burberry is just a perfect match, the dress is amazing, the hair is amazing, it's nice to see her back on the carpet looking the so good!

Not always a massive fan of the most famous Kardashian, but this wrap dress is really lovely and flattering,  and I think her choice of accessories are spot on, the belt, bangles and bag are a great match but my favourite is the gorgeous wedges - love.

This is the Michelle Willams look I love, elegant, feminine and sophisticated I really want to see her more like this at the Oscars!

Rachel McAdams has had an amazing week with some wonderful outfit choices, this Peter Som outfit has had her end up on all the best dressed list and it's very worthy, it's the perfect spring dress, floral print, short sleeves, a little bit of leg and a bright blast of blue - really lovely. Just wish outside wasn't covered in  snow so I could wear something Spring like too!

This outfit choice hasn't featured on as many best dressed lists but in my opinion it's just as worthy - cute, girly, flirty and perfect to wear on a film promotional tour!

I haven't always liked all of Rooney Mara's outfit choices on the Girl with a Dragon Tattoo promotional tour, although I do respect that she takes risks with her fashion instead of sticking with the safe option.
This Givenchy outfit works so well with her colouring and complexion, and I like the shoes and I'm not often a fan of an ankle strap!

Even though all in all the SAG awards were still a little disappointing, there have been some real great fashion highlights this week, maybe the awards red carpets have lost a bit of sparkle?
